YouTube is set to revise its monetisation policies on July 15 to address the growing issue of "inauthentic" content, largely driven by AI tools.
The update aims to stop monetisation of mass-produced, repetitive, or AI-generated videos that lack originality.
While YouTube says it’s a minor update, the changes could affect creators using AI voices, repurposed clips, or reaction-style formats.
The goal is to reduce spammy, low-effort videos—often called “AI slop”—and maintain platform quality.
Creators must now focus on original, authentic content to stay eligible for earnings.
